The Common Place Café – affordable, healthy, delicious, vegan food. Café times: usually Sat noon-6pm and Sun brunch 1pm-3pm, also other times if other events on but best to check the website. Drinks: Zapatista coffee, fruit teas, fairtrade teas, juices. Volunteers are needed for all aspects of the everyday running of the café, regardless of your skills, from serving teas and coffees to making, preparing or simply serving food. Any time you can give, no matter how occasional, will be greatly appreciated, and help us to expand our opening hours. Volunteers will receive a free meal for each shift and any travel expenses incurred getting to the Common Place can be refunded. The Common Place hosts Action Central, 6.30-8.30pm (ish), a monthly Sunday evening meal and get-together to chat, share info on upcoming actions and campaign meetings and inspire each other to take action about the problems around us. Bradford Animal Rights Group
We meet every 4th Thursday in the month (not Dec) at the CVS Offices, 19-25 Sunbridge Road, Bradford City Centre. The meeting starts at 7.30pm and we finish at 9.00pm, we are usually in the basement room. We do street stalls and collections for national organisations like Animal Aid and Uncaged in Bradford, Halifax, Huddersfield, Keighley and Skipton and we help with local campaigns and attend national demos. Leeds Animal Protection Against all animal abuse such as labs, food or entertainment. Meetings every month on the fourth Wednesday (third Wed in Dec), starting at 7pm in the Civic Hall, Leeds. Our meetings are open, and visitors and potential members are welcome to attend. We hold stalls on a fairly regular basis (approximately once per month) in and around Leeds. From time to time, we also attend national events in other parts of the country and assist in demonstrations locally. Includes tombola, book stall and bric-a-brac table and info on animal rights and vegetarianism/veganism. The money raised is to be divided between Doris Banham Dog Rescue, Hillside Farm Animal Sanctuary and Dog Rescue in India.
