If attending an event below, please ring Natalie afew days in advance to confirm the event is still happening and get more details. Please note our monthly evening social is on the second Monday of the month starting at 7.30pm.

Welcome to this year’s programme of veggie and vegan friendly activities. There are lots of new things to try. Everyone is free to suggest and organise other events along the way. Most of the events are held in each other’s homes – everyone is welcome – please contact the host a few days beforehand to let them know who you are and that you’re coming to their event! We often share food/drink/snacks at the various events – we really appreciate it if you can roughly label what’s in the food you bring so that people with particular dietary preferences or allergies (eg gluten/dairy/sugar) can easily know what they’re eating; this can seem like a faff but is really helpful! Look forward to sharing some adventures with you in 2008. Ideas welcome throughout the year for trips to restaurants, week-end walks and Sunday potluck lunches. If anyone needs or can offer a lift to events please contact Natalie as far in advance as you can!

Mon 14th April
Awareness and fundraising event for the Doris Banham Trust dog charity. Our main aim is to raise awareness and gather donations/volunteers for the Trust. Joanne and Carla  will do some food but if people would like to bring a pudding, drink or snack that would be great –  donations to Joanne and Carla for the main courses will be greatly appreciated, which will then go to the charity. There will be a bit of a talk about the trust and "before and after" pictures of dogs in the pound. To help raise money for the Trust, please bring an item that you could enter into the raffle and we will draw prizes at the end of the evening! We would also like people to donate either dog food/treats, leads/collars, dog toys, blankets/bedding or of course finances!  We would also like to try and find some potential volunteers for dog walking or people who may be willing to rehome a dog. Please let Carla know beforehand that you are going: contact her at lapenquiries@hotmail.com.

“Our charity is called the DORIS BANHAM SANCTUARY - registered charity no. 1103372. We save 100s of pound dogs from needless destruction every month. Our dedicated volunteers rescue them from the pound and transport them all over the country to safe rescue centres with non-destruction policies. If we cannot place a dog immediately in a rescue centre (because they are full) we pay for boarding kennels and rehome the dogs through our website. Please look at the "DOGS FOR REHOMING" sections for a small selection of the dogs we currently hold in kennels across the region. You can also find them on our main website www.dogsos.co.uk.We are funded solely by donation & fundraising and 100% of the funds are spent on the dogs. We pay for veterinary treatment, temporary boarding and transport. We take every dog our old van will carry, the old, the young, pedigree, cross-breed, the wounded and the strong and we work to rebuild their lives.”

Introductory Talk about the Alexander Technique by Grant Ragsdale.
The Alexander Technique is a method of getting more in touch with how your mind and body function and how to apply this knowledge to cope more easily and fluidly with the often complex and difficult demands that modern living imposes upon us. The Technique pays attention to the very close link between the mind and the body and works in a very holistic manner to guide us towards a better poise and harmony both internally and in our relationship with the outside world. It is a form of education that is applied to recognise and overcome reactive, habitual limitations in movement and thinking. The Alexander Technique is usually learned from individual lessons with a teacher using specialized hand contact and verbal instructions. The Technique is also taught in groups, often using short individual lessons which in turn act as examples to the rest of the class. [1] The Technique takes its name from F. Matthias Alexander, who first observed and formulated its principles between 1890 and 1900.

Have you travelled to a long-haul destination recently?  Or maybe you experience disturbed sleep patterns?  Kinesiology can re-set your body clock in just a few minutes with a "time of day" energy balance. Everyone would love to be able to use their brain power more efficiently - find out whether your thinking/concentration is as energised as it could be or whether your brain energy needs a boost. You will also learn about techniques which are fantastic for enhancing memory and great for improving learning skills. Superb for adults/children with dyslexia.
